The player chooses from the 8 available 'characters' at the beginning of each new game to incorporate the player company. The AI(s), if they exist for the scenario, are chosen at random from the 7 remaining AIs.
In addition to issuing patents that prevent the player from producing a particular drug for a period of time, an AI can also alter the base price of an ingredient (by increasing or decreasing demand) and the cure rating of a cure (by producing more of the cure).
The AI's pursue different strategies. For Example, Barclay and Tess will patent more quickly and pursue cures similar to the Player than other AIs.
